It's been 5 years since Sergio Azzopardi forwarded an email telling me that this idea would really be up my lane. We immediately contacted Edwin Datschefski (the man behind it all globally) on the 25th of March 2006 and he send us some tips of how to set Green Drinks up and put our heads together to organise the Green Drinks Launch on the 22 June 2006. I remember the flow of ideas, the meetings, the excitement of preparing for it all. The first big break was when the owner of Il-Kastell of Tarxien sponsored the venue, drinks and food! He gave us the needed encouragement that we could pull this through. Remember the little printouts which Sergio had designed which we disseminated during an environmental protest march. Remember Mario Axiak and Luke Vincenti and their help with the presentations. Remember fondly the 150 people turning up at our very first event. Many of them still join us at Green Drinks Gatherings. Remember all the beautiful people who gave us a hand to organise like Ian Christie, Danielle Calenti and the photographers Elaine Bugeja, Paula Axiak and Daniela Agius. Many thanks also to Barbara Elekes and Alan Cassar and Aldo Calleja for his unrelenting support.
And now we are in the midst of finalising the big one for the 25th of June 2011 with the help of some lovely people. And again I am fascinated by the generosity of friends who gave us gifts to raffle and send us kind words of encouragement. And friends who came on board to give a hand. The sharing. The big heart. The network.
